Welfare Officers
We have Welfare Officers on the committee whose role is to ensure that we are fully compliant with the Football Association’s (FA’s) child welfare rules, guidelines and procedures.
All of our coaches, referees, volunteers and committee members go through regular Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
The lead coaches also take the FA’s safeguarding qualification as part of their overall coaching qualification. This includes training on child welfare issues and they are required to take refresher courses regularly in order to remain a qualified coach.
In addition, lead coaches also take the FA’s first aid qualification which covers basic emergency first aid appropriate for football. Again, they are required to take refresher courses regularly.
If your child has any medical condition or allergy then you must make this known by completing the relevant section on the registration form and also by informing your child’s coach. Note that coaches are not permitted to administer any prescribed medication and you should be on hand to do this if needed or should ensure the child can do it for themselves.
It is our club policy that parents and carers stay with their child and are responsible for them during training and matches. If you can’t attend or can’t stay, then you must appoint a responsible adult to look after them on your behalf (someone other than the coach, unless the coach agrees otherwise) and inform your coach accordingly.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss any concerns about the welfare of your child or any other children, please either speak to your coach or contact one of our Welfare Officers.
