Training
Most squads aim to train at least once a week and many train twice a week. Training dates, times and venues vary so speak to your coach for details.
Training costs for one session a week are covered by the club. Additional payment may be required if your squad is holding a second session, depending on the venue. Your coach can let you know if this applies.
Regular attendance at training is important both to help the children develop as footballers and to help the team to bond and be co-ordinated.
Matches
Squads begin to play matches against other clubs from the under 7 age group upwards.
Mostly, our teams play in the Harrogate Friendly League (u7-u10) and the Harrogate Junior League (u11-u18). However, some teams do enter different competitions.
In addition to league matches, there are various cup competitions depending on the age group. These can be local competitions within the Harrogate leagues and can also be county-wide competitions such as the County Cup.
In the Summer, a variety of clubs across the region host tournaments which teams can enter if they wish.
Squads are also encouraged to arrange friendly matches as appropriate to ensure all players have the opportunity to play regular matches and to give an appropriate range of challenge for all players.
Playing Kit
Please note that the club subscription fee does not cover playing or training clothing. We aim for playing kit to be sponsored. Training clothing is typically bought individually by parents but can sometimes be sponsored too. Please speak to your coach who will help to organise a kit for your child and help you to order training clothing if you wish to purchase this.
Players are to provide their own football boots/trainers which should be appropriate to the surface that they are playing on i.e. grass, 3G or 4G AstroTurf, 1G AstroTurf, indoor sports hall. Please see our football boot exchange on Facebook where second hand boots can be bought for a small donation to the club.
Shinpads must be worn at every age group for both training and playing matches.
Please send your child to training and matches in appropriate clothing, i.e. comfortable clothing which is suitable for running around in and warm layers (including a jacket) in Winter. Please make sure they have water and any snacks they may need. In very hot weather, consider whether they need hats and sun cream, and bring extra water.
